Hi! I’m Taya, a high school student passionate about history and human rights. As a Koryo-Saram (Russian-speaking Korean), I grew up with multiple cultures, never really understanding the connection between them. After learning more about my ancestry and other Indigenous Russian voices, I became inspired to create this website to share the stories of Indigenous Russian voices, who have been silenced by Russian colonialism.

Hi, I’m Rita! I was born in Moscow, Russia, where I lived for 10 years before my family moved to Seattle, WA in 2016. I started my elementary education there before transferring to a Seattle school district in 4th grade, where I stayed for the entirety of my middle and high school years. As the designer of the logo and website layout, it’s been an honor to collaborate on this project!

I’m Kamila! I’m originally from Belarus, but moved to the US as an elementary schooler. My mixture of Belarussian and Russian cultures have been very important to my cultural upbringing. In my free time, I enjoy drawing and designing. Through helping to design this website, I’ve honed both my art skills and cultural knowledge.

Hello, I’m Liza! As a Koryo-Saram who has lived in the US her entire life, my identity has always been very diasporic. When people ask about my ethnicity, I find myself confused on how to best describe it due to my connection to Korean, Russian, and Central Asian cultures. Being a part of this project has helped me feel a stronger sense of belonging and learn more about cultural backgrounds similar to mine.
